Ruth Louise Walker, age 84, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on June 17, 2024. She was born on June 19, 1939, in Porterville, CA, a daughter of Mary Beatrice Walker (Orf) and Marquis Anderson Walker.
She was a graduate of Putnam City High School and pursued higher education at OCW (now USAO) in Chickasha, OK, and NE State College in Tahlequah, OK. Ruth’s commitment to learning was evident throughout her life and career.
Ruth’s passion for education led her to a career as a teacher for deaf children in Tulsa, where she dedicated over 30 years of her life nurturing and educating countless young minds.
Outside of her professional life, Ruth enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing cards, visiting the casino, and traveling to new destinations. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, creating lasting memories with each gathering.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Marquis Walker; her nephew, Steven Parks; and her brother-in-law, Leroy Horn. She is survived by her loving sisters, Sue Horn and Julie (Woot) Spencer; nieces Regina Duvall, Stacey Harris, Juliana Cox, and Michelle Cook; nephews Keith Horn and Joseph Spencer; as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and a wide circle of close friends who will miss her dearly.
Ruth Louise Walker will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her students, and her joyful spirit that touched the lives of everyone she knew. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
The graveside service for Ruth will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Bethany Cemetery.
