Sondra Kay Hayes Ansivino July 26, 1949 - December 12, 2016

Sondra Kay Hayes Ansivino was graced with her "angel" wings on December 12, 2016. Her final days were spent surrounded by loving family and friends.Thefifth and youngest child ofO. J. (Doc) and Lois Hayes of Edmond,Sondraloved the flowers, the sun, the spray of the water as she jetted across the lake, the snuggles of her grandchildren and riding "topless" with her grandson in her red Miata sports car (convertible top off that is). The delight of her life was the special bond she shared with her daughter, Kricia; sister, Patricia; grandchildren:Aubreigh, Greysen, Taylor and Kalista, and her nephew, Chris, whomshe considered to be her second son.

Effervescent, confident, genuine and forgiving, Sondra nurtured relationships. Nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, former neighbors, former co-workers, students, supervisors and members of her various organizations and activities remained in her circle of friends for decades. People were drawn to her because she listened, empathized, and demonstrated loyalty. Sondra spared nothing when giving to others although for herself, she loved bargain shopping and was on first-name bases with thrift store employees. She had "such a way." Some people just get it, and Sondra did.

Theseamazing qualities suited Sondra's career and volunteer choices very well:Cash Control Tech(Frontier City),Teacher(Mable Bassett Correctional Facility),Special Education Teacher(Rogers and Harding Middle Schools),School Counselor(Edmond Central Mid High),Assistant Principal(John Marshall, Douglass, Star Spencer, and Northeast High Schools),Interim Principal(Harper Charter High School),Flight Attendant(Express Jet),Mental Health Counselor(Concepts inCounseling),Event Security and Guest Relations Agent(Chesapeake Energy Arena), andVolunteer Usher(Civic Center Music Hall). In all her roles, Sondra went over and beyond. With a slogan of "Nevertheless and whatever it takes," her diligence, energy, integrity and support became the wind beneath her supervisors' wings. As an outstanding educator, Sondra was nominated for theWomen Who Change HistoryAward because she put students first: helping them to have what they needed to achieve educational excellence, healthy life styles and successful post high school endeavors even at the expense of her personal funds and personal time.

Born on July 26, 1949, Sondra's childhood and young adult experiences no doubt contributed to her ability to relate to such a diverse and humungous circle of closefriends. She was born in Edmond, Oklahoma, grew up in Brownstown, Illinois, and graduated from Elk City High School, Elk City, Oklahoma. Her Bachelors of Arts Degree was earned at Southwestern University, Weatherford, Oklahoma, and her Masters of Education was earned attheUniversity of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, Oklahoma. As an adult, she lived inEdmond, Arcadia and Oklahoma City.

Raised in the Pentecostal Church, Sondra always held God inhighest reverence. With maturity, although she transitioned to other denominational and non-denominational services, she remained faithful in her religious belief. She knows God. She knowsas truth what Paul wrote in his second letter to the Corinthians: "away from the body and at home with the Lord."

Members of Sondra's circle who transitioned from this life before her are her parents, Geneva and Jerald Hayes; her brother, Jack; her son, Timothy Ansivino (who passed away exactly eleven months to the date of Sondra's transition); nephew, John Gillespie; cousins, and friends. Those who continue to cherish the her lifeand legacy are: her daughter, Kricia Phillipsand fiancé, Jack Conatser; Sister, Patricia Townsley; Brothers, Jerry Hayes and wife Cathy and Jim Hayes; Sister-in-law, Sue Hayes; Grandchildren, Aubreigh Phillipsand fiancée, Jessi Fisher, Greysen Ansivino, Taylor and Kalista Easton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
