Verle Glenn Coslett was born January 5, 1929 to Glenn and Ruth Coslett on a farm in South Central Kansas. Our beloved Verle departed this life and entered the gates of heaven on December 5, 2024 at the age of 95. While living in Mayfield, Kansas working on a farm and also played semi pro baseball in small towns throughout Kansas, he commuted to Wichita North High School where he graduated in 1948.
He met the love of his life Jean Ann Henry who also attended Wichita North High School. After graduating Verle decided to inlist into the Army in 1949 where he was stationed in Germany through 1953 as a tank operator and mechanic, after his tour in Germany he returned to Kansas to find that Jean Ann had moved to Oklahoma. He traveled to Oklahoma to reconnect with her.
Verle and Jean Ann were married on May 2, 1953 and they had 2 children, Lonnie Eugene born 1954 and Bobby Glenn Coslett born 1956. The family lived in the Bethany-Warr Acres area until moving to Cedar Lake in 1970 then Verle and Jean Ann returned to Warr Acres in 1973.
Verle worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for the Dolese Co. and Metheney Concrete until retirement. During his time working at Dolese he was very involved with the Northwest Optimist Club where he loved coaching prep baseball teams with well known players such as Steve Largent and Bob Shirley and many others who had great careers at the next level as well as Mike Davis who went on to be a well known coach in OK & TX. He was privileged to have coach Davis coach his grandson to a state championship in Yukon,OK.
Verle was also a 32nd Degree Mason also a member of the India Shine Center of OKC. Verle also served as a member on the American Legion Post #12 and served as the Commander for several years.
Verle’s biggest pride and joy were his 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their sporting and school events. His wonderful laugh and smile will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Ruth, loving wife Jean Ann, brother Kenneth, sisters Willadean and Ruth Ellen.
He is survived by two sons Lonnie and wife Lisa of Maysville OK, Bobby and wife Julie of Yukon OK; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren Trinette and husband Mark and their children Kennedy, Presley and Evey of Yukon OK; Travor and wife Tecla and their children Townsend, Foster and Banks of Yukon OK; Shawn and wife Lauren and their children Emma and Claire of Chickasha OK; Alecia and husband Clint and their children Heston, Kensley and Blakely of Mustang OK; his sister LoRita of Alva OK; along with a host of friends and family.
Visitation for Verle will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 1 – 8 PM, with family present to receive guests from 5 – 7 PM, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2 PM, at Putnam City Methodist Church, 5819 NW 41st St. Oklahoma City, OK 73122, with interment following immediately after at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 8701 NW Expressway Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
