Vernon Roy Magill, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Vern was born June 18, 1933 in McCook, Nebraska to Dr. Van and Leila Magill. He enjoyed 63 years of marriage to Connie. Vern received a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska and a Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. After serving as 1st Lt. in the US Army Vern had a long career at Tinker Air Force Base serving as an engineering manager. He enjoyed teaching at Rose State College after retiring from Tinker. His interests included camping, cruises, and traveling. He was a brilliant man with an inquisitive mind who loved solving technical challenges and learning how things work. He attended Covenant Community Church in Yukon, Oklahoma. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Roger. He is survived by his wife and sons; Michael, Scott, and Lee; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Buchanan’s Funeral Home.
