William “Bill” E. Dunbar of Oklahoma City, passed away quietly with his family by his side on March 29th, 2022. Bill was born on April 21, 1931 to Fay and Edna Dunbar in Mustang, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlene Murray and Anne Dunbar; brother, Cleo Dunbar; and his loving wife of 67 years, Ariena M. Dunbar. He is survived by his two daughters, Charlotte Nard and husband Michael, and daughter Teresa Dunbar-Gay and husband Gene; five grandchildren, Christopher Nard and wife Piper, Amanda Haysmer and husband Jeremy, Cynthia Schlosser and husband Isaac, Stacey Flener and husband David and Preston Gay and family; 11 great grandchildren, Cale, Pruitt and Callaway Nard, Cheyenne and Wyatt Haysmer, Katie, Logan, Jackson and Alison Schlosser, Kason and Arlie Flener; and brothers Jack and Fay Dunbar.
Bill served as Airman First Class in the Air Force until 1954 when he was honorably discharged receiving both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed many years of Square Dancing with his wife, traveling across the US in the RV club of Oklahoma and spending time at the lake fishing with his family. He was well loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, April 8th, from 9AM to 8 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at 2 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Rd, OKC 73132 with graveside services and reception immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, OKC 73162.
