William Rocky Ford Fearing passed away on January 22nd, 2025, after a life of adventure, shenanigans, and love. William, known as Rocky to everyone except telemarketers was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and dog-dad who spent his final moments at home after years of medical challenges.

Rocky was born at home “in a driving snowstorm” on December 30, 1946 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. His parents Blanche Ida Grant Fearing, Sherman Lewis Fearing, and older brother Solon Fearing moved to a farm in Fay, Oklahoma, where they were raised.

Rocky attended a one room country schoolhouse then graduated (without honors) from Watonga Schools. While in school he was involved in FFA and Yearbook, and while not in school he was involved in mischief. He “walked in the front door and out the backdoor” of college, where he took classes such as drafting, business, and ballroom dancing.

Rocky led many different lives and was full of talent and stories. He moved to Oklahoma City after school, where he worked various jobs, including drafting and manufacturing airplane parts at Gulfstream Aerospace, firefighter, restaurant manager, property manager, and accountant. After Gulfstream closed, he went to work for himself, and spent his final working years landscaping, and later, designing hats and apparel, which allowed him to mow with son Josh and sew with his wife Kelli. Throughout his many roles he took pride in helping others, ensuring each part built or lawn mowed was exactly right, and made many lifelong friends from co-workers and customers.

Throughout the years, countless donuts, fried pies, hot links, and chicken fried steaks were consumed as he flew from one job or hobby to the next and he always stayed busy. His appetite included a hunger for knowledge, and throughout his life he pursued many different hobbies including fishing, motorbikes, research and treasure hunting, metal art, charcoal, line dancing with Kelli, and drawing.

For nearly 40 years he was blessed with the love of his wife Kelli Fearing. Throughout their marriage they demonstrated true love and friendship, and set an amazing example of what true commitment and partnership can be.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Blanche Fearing, his daughter Jennifer Hope Fearing, and his sister-in-law Billie Ruth Fearing.

He is survived by his wife, Kelli, son Josh, and daughter in law Rachel, his older brother Solon, eldest daughter Rachelle, and step-sons, Robbie, Ryan, and Nathan from previous marriages. He leaves behind nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends.

He was sweet, ornery, kind, and persistent. He cultivated beautiful friendships and family relationships with his humor, tenacity, and care. Those that loved him will miss his ornery smile, hand drawn maps, his voice, and the way his mustache shook when he laughed. He fought to stay with those he loved, but we are thankful he is at peace and breathing easy.

Rocky’s celebration of life will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at Western Oaks Christian Church, 8100 NW 23rd St Oklahoma City, OK, 73127.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oklahoma Regional Food Bank or St. Jude’s.
