The family of Betty Lou Sowers mourns her loss but celebrates a life well-lived. Born Betty Lou Geno in Lexington, Oklahoma, she was one of nine siblings. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty is survived by her husband of 67-years, Ben; sons Steve and wife Traci, Ken and wife Tracy, daughter Becky; grandchildren Steven and wife Lindsey, Jacob and wife Hannah; and great-grandchildren Jack and Ryan.
Betty graduated from the University of Oklahoma and went on to teach for several years before becoming a wife and mother. She enjoyed a later-in-life career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from which she retired in 1994. Betty and Ben were faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Pearl Geno, as well as six sisters and two brothers.
A service honoring Betty will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the on-site chapel of Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City. The family requests that in lieu flowers, donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of Oklahoma.
