Date of Funeral

May 6, 2024

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:43 PM at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma.

This will be a Celebration of the Beautiful Life that Cathy lived. Tom, Landry, and Casady have requested that those who attend the Memorial Service dress casually.

Catherine Jo Taylor Earnest, 48, of Edmond, OK was enjoying a pastime she loved with people she loved when she went to join our Heavenly Father on April 13, 2024.

Cathy was born on February 29, 1976 to Mike and Jane Taylor in Oklahoma City, OK. In 2000, Cathy earned her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University.  During her Master’s program, Cathy met Tom Earnest, and they enjoyed 23 years as husband and wife. Tom and Cathy have two daughters, Landry Taylor Earnest and Casady Fayth Earnest, who were the stars in Cathy’s eyes.

Cathy followed in her mother’s footsteps and worked as a High School Counselor at Northwest Classen, Piedmont, and Edmond Memorial, where she impacted so many students and fellow faculty members. She was a light to everyone who worked with her.

Cathy loved to spend her time with her family and friends. Her girls and family were her everything and she was happiest when she was with them. She loved playing games, singing along to music, traveling, and everything Disney, especially Winnie the Pooh. She especially valued her involvement with her church family and will miss them dearly.

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Jane Rainey Taylor, and we are overjoyed that they are together again. She is survived by her husband, Tom Earnest, her daughters Landry and Casady, her father Mike Taylor, sister Becky (and Stephen) Zajac, mother-in-law Kay Earnest, sister-in-law Amy (and Tommy) Harris, as well as nieces Lucille Zajac and Hayley Harris, nephews Hunter (and Becca) Zajac, Joseph (and Brailee) Zajac, Copeland Zajac, and Xander Harris. In addition to her direct relatives, Cathy had so many other loved ones she considered family.

A memorial service will be held at Memorial Road Church of Christ on Monday, May 6th, 2024 at 1:43 pm.

143 was Cathy’s favorite number, as it represents the number of letters in “I Love You”, something she learned and loved from her parents and handed down to her family.

Services are provided by Buchanan Funeral Service.

It’s true, there are no words that can bring comfort in such times of grief but just know that the whole family is being lifted up in prayer to the one who provides strength, comfort, and peace!
