Charlotte was born to Emmet and Opal (King) Fowler, July 6, 1931, in Clarksville, West Virginia. She graduated class Valedictorian from Baker High School in 1949. She married Joseph Ronald Freeland, in 1951, at Mobile, Alabama. Together they raised five (5) children.
She is survived by four (4) children: Joseph Ronald Freeland, Jr. (Sandra), Linda Ann Freeland, Thomas Jay Freeland (Donna), and Cinda Jean Freeland Meadors (Mark), brother, John Jay Fowler, of Frederick, Md., 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte retired early from civil service in 1990 to spend quality time with her grandchildren; she was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. She had a profound love of family and friends, and never met a stranger.
For many years, she was an avid square dancer and bowler. She loved to travel, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii, but most of all, she cherished being surrounded by and loving on her family.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont, where she faithfully served the Lord and enjoyed many activities and trips with the JOY group.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 1:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Piedmont, followed by burial at Yukon Cemetery. Friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, November 10, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution in Charlotte’s memory may contribute to the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, at fbcpiedmont.org.
