Elsa Marina Castro Cordon went with the Lord on January 27, 2024, in her home in Oklahoma City surrounded by her son Frank, her sister Mirza Cordon and dear friends Anna Herrera and Sonia Guerra that visited and cared for her on a regular basis. She was born on February 12th, 1940, in San Esteban de Chiquimula, Guatemala to Emilio Cordon Villeda and Maria del Carmen Guerra Solis de Cordon. Her early years of working in her hometown and other nearby cities creating a great work ethic inspired her to move to United States with her newlywed husband Javier Arnoldo Castro to become citizen of the United States. There she raised their two sons Herbert and Frank. Her love for fashion inspired her to work many years as a seamstress and establishing a great reputation most of her life for designing, creating and repairing clothing particularly for women. In November of 1996 she moved onto her next chapter in life in Oklahoma City be with her eldest son Herbert. Soon again she recalled how she loved being in the kitchen being fond to her native cuisine and constantly offering her home to anyone that desired a home cooked meal. Being active with her Catholic faith, she invited her home to many priests and parishioners and other congregations that also received numerous home cooked meals in addition to sharing their spiritual journeys of life. Her strong relationship with her faith also helped her endure the separation of her spouse, the sudden death of her first grandchild Sophia in 2013 at the age of 18 months, followed by her eldest son Herbert in 2017 then her eldest sister Miriam in 2019. She was grateful to survive these events with the help of her family and loved ones here in the United States and Guatemala.
She is survived by her former spouse, her son Frank, sister Mirza Cordon, four grandchildren Christina, Violet, Justin, Kenneth in addition to four great grandchildren Vann, Maggie, Arya and Finn.

Elsa Marina Castro Cordón se fue con el Señor el 27 de enero de 2024, estaba en su casa, en Oklahoma City, rodeada de su hijo Frank, su hermana Mirza Cordón y las queridas amigas Anna Herrera y Sonia Guerra, que la visitaba y cuidaban regularmente.
Nació el 12 de febrero de 1940 en San Esteban de Chiquimula, Guatemala, hija de Emilio Cordón Villeda y María del Carmen Guerra Solís de Cordón. Sus primeros años de trabajo fueron en su ciudad natal y otras ciudades cercanas creando una gran ética de trabajo que la inspiraron a mudarse a los Estados Unidos con su esposo Javier Arnoldo Castro para convertirse en ciudadana norteamericana. Aqui crió a sus dos hijos, Herbert y Frank.
Su amor por la moda la inspiró a trabajar muchos años como diseñadora de modas y en alta costura, estableció una gran reputación durante la mayor parte de su vida diseñando, creando y reparando ropa especialmente para mujeres.
Además, le encantaba estar en la cocina, aficionada a la comida Guatemalteca, la que constantemente ofreció en su hogar a cualquier persona que deseara una comida casera. Desde el año 1996 se mudo a Oklahoma dónde su familia se incrementó con el amor a personas que no las unía la sangre pero si la fe, la afinidad, el cariño y el servicio al prójimo, sin importar su lugar de origen
Ella fue muy activa con su fe Católica, invitó a su casa a muchos sacerdotes, monjas y feligreses que también recibieron numerosas comidas caseras además de compartir sus viajes espirituales de vida. Su relación con su fe también la ayudó a soportar la separación de su cónyuge, la muerte repentina de su primera nieta Sophia en 2013 a la edad de 18 meses, seguida del fallecimiento de su primer hijo: Herbert en 2017 y luego el de su hermana mayor Miriam en 2019.
Elsa Marina fue un ejemplo de resiliencia, don de servicio y amor a la Virgen María y a Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Estaba agradecida de sobrevivir eventos tristes y dolorosos con la ayuda de su familia y seres queridos aquí en los Estados Unidos y en Guatemala.
Le sobreviven su ex cónyuge, su hijo Frank, su hermana Mirza Cordon, cuatro nietos Christina, Violet, Justin, Kenneth y cuatro bisnietos Vann, Maggie, Arya y Finn.
Agradecemos el tiempo y amor que los aquí presentes y muchos que no han podido acudir hoy a su despedida, le tuvieron a mi madre, Elsa Marina, quien ya goza de la presencia de Dios y descansa en paz.
