Maureen Moria “Mo” Wolphagen February 17, 1960 - February 7, 2024

Date of Funeral

February 16, 2024

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Buchanan Funeral Service

Maureen Moria “Mo” Wolphagen , age 63, formerly of Pohnpei, FSM passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She earned a degree in Communications from University of Guam (UOG) in 1986. Maureen joined her husband, Byron in Oxnard, CA, and then to Oklahoma City, OK in 1992. To their union was born one son, Asa.

Maureen worked for Walmart for 23 years. She loved her entire Walmart family. She wasn’t the boss, but she referred to the Northwest store as “my store” and claimed the overnight crew, cashiers, and customers as her own. Although, she did not know everybody’s name, they learned hers, “MO”, Maureen the machine. She worked so hard and displayed a work ethic and pride in everything she did. No one could ever label her as “lazy”. This ethic extended to her home and her workouts. Maureen could frequently be found in the gym – any gym. She was there 5 days a week, sometimes twice a day. She enjoyed ZUMBA, treadmill walking and the elliptical.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Maureen is survived by her husband of 29 years; her loving son, Asa and his wife, Kayla; her granddaughter Deysi, whom she loved dearly; her brother David; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews from points across the globe; and extended family and friends in Oklahoma and on the island of Pohnpei, FSM. She was preceded in death by her mother, Moria; and her brother, Tony who often made her laugh when he visited her in her dreams. Maureen was a friend to all. Her direct and honest opinions will be missed by many.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73132.

I am so sorry to hear the sudden loss of our beloved Maumau. My heart is broken. She was a dear & loving cousin & was like an older sister that I never had. I will deeply miss her. I will miss our phone conversations & fb messages. Prayers to her husband and Asa and his little family. I know how excited she was when she became a grandma to her beautiful little princess, Daysi.
Mau, till we meet again…seilok mwau. I love you!
