Glenda Marie Billen October 30, 1933 - September 23, 2021

Glenda Marie Billen, born October 30, 1933, to Glenn and Mabel (Lynch) Cline, died September 23, 2021, at her home in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, and raised on a farm. She attended Deer Creek High School, where she was active in basketball and 4‐H. She graduated from Draughon School of Business and went on to work as an executive secretary at WKY‐TV and the City of Edmond, among others. On Saturday, June 23, 1956, she married the love of her life, Harold, who precedes her in death. After retirement, she worked with her sister Judy making sashes for pageants, including Miss USA. Glenda taught her daughters to garden, cook, and sew. Together, they spent many enjoyable weekends attending quilt meetings and retreats together. When their children were young, every summer Harold & Glenda packed the car and went on road trips, driving from Edmond, OK, to places as near as Grand Lake and as far as Yellowstone National Park and Washington, DC. Upon retirement, they expanded their love of travel to more international locales, including Mexico, South America, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. Glenda saw her beloved Harold through his illness with advanced kidney disease, never completely recovering from his death in January 2020. Survivors include daughters Teresa Mensch (Paul) of Talent, OR and Catherine Smouse (Dan) of Colorado Springs, CO; and son Gregory, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Jenn Blaser of Pasadena, CA; and Brendan Smouse (McKenna), and great‐grandchildren Adelaide and Nolan, of Ft Collins, CO; siblings Darryl (Nancy), Judy Wolfe (Charles), Marvin (Carol) and M.L. (Jane), as well as many nieces and nephews. Prayer service Thursday, October 28 at 6 p.m., Buchanan’s Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m., Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church.
