Janie Moroz November 26, 1947 - March 24, 2024

Date of Funeral

March 30, 2024

Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Buchanan Funeral Service

Janie Pettijohn Moroz passed away March 24th, 2024. We lost a Mother, Sister, Ma, Aunt, Friend and Teacher who taught us there was adventure in the everyday and that wonder surrounds us. That books are worlds to explore and happiness is a (really) hot cup of tea. That silliness is just as important as seriousness and that it is always a good time for dessert. Her love was unconditional and touched lives in ways she never knew.

Janie was predeceased by her parents, Rex Pettijohn and Kay Welton Pettijohn, and her husband, Richard Moroz. She is survived by her children, Katie Moroz Overton and Chris Moroz, their spouses, Jason Overton and Kari Moroz, her three grandchildren, Gracie Moroz, Trinity Moroz, and Joby Overton, her sister, Peggy Pettijohn Patterson and nephews, Roger Patterson and Randy Patterson.

Please join us in celebrating Janie’s life at 2pm on Saturday, March 30th at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N Council Rd., Oklahoma City, OK. We encourage everyone to wear bright colors just like Janie did. If you’d like to contribute her legacy, donations may be made to Compassion International.

Janie was a fabulous innovative teacher who inspired her colleagues. I am sorry to hear of her passing. She was such a joy and always kept in touch and kept all the WH teachers in the loop. Sympathies to Katie and Chris and their families. She was so proud of you kids and talked of you often.

My deepest sympathy to Janie’s family as I know they will miss her terribly. Janie was the talented soprano in our high school trio that sang together for six years receiving Superior ratings at District and State Competitions. She was our rock and a great friend. So thankful for all the wonderful memories we had from our years at Stigler High School. Janie always had a positive attitude and worked tirelessly on our reunions. She leaves a big hole in our hearts.

Dear Family of Janie – I taught with Janie for many years, and we were part of an accountability group that met together to keep us on track with Biblical thinking. I will miss her. I sponsor a child through Compassion International and made a donation to her center today in honor of Janie.
Sincerely, Sheri Thompson (formerly Sheri Curry)
