Joe Lynn Urban October 7, 1938 - December 28, 2021

Joe Lynn Urban went peacefully to his Lord and Savior surrounded by his immediate family on December 28th, 2021. Joe was born in Rush Springs, OK on October 7th, 1938 to Audry and Opal (Price) Urban. He graduated from Cyril High School and attended The University of Oklahoma. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He met the love of his life, Wanda Tippit, and spent the next 58 years happily married and walking through life together. Their marriage produced two children, Melissa (Urban) Barrick, and Derek Urban. He was the proud grandfather of Katie Barrick, Caleb Barrick, Wesley Barrick, Kelsey Urban, and Joseph Urban. Joe has been a resident of Oklahoma City for the past 38 years. He was employed by ETI (formerly UEC Equipment Company), retiring in 2000 as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Joe was a faithful member of New Hope Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Sunday school class. After retirement, he loved riding his motorcycle all over the country. He enjoyed golfing with his fellow hackers, watching OU football, weekly dinner nights with friends, and most of all, spending as much time with his family as possible. He was a patriot with a great love for his country.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Audry and Opal; his infant son David Joseph; his older brother Keith; his stepmother Viola Urban; his stepsiblings Jim Bowman and Doris (Bowman) Martin. He is survived by his wife Wanda; daughter Melissa; son Derek and wife Helen; grandchildren Katie, Caleb, Kelsey, Wesley, and Joseph; son-in-law Roland Barrick; his stepsiblings Ann (Bowman) Palmer and Cheryl (Bowman) Burkhart; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.

Visitation hours for family and friends will be held on Wednesday January 5th from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Buchanan Funeral Service in Oklahoma City. The funeral service will be Thursday January 6th at 11 AM at New Hope United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City with the graveside service being held at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK beginning at 2:30 PM. The funeral service will be live streamed from the New Hope United Methodist Church website at newhopeokc.org through their links for YouTube or Facebook.
