Katherine “Katie” Holmes Snare January 7, 1951 - February 1, 2015

Katherine Holmes Snare lost her 10 year battle with dementia on February 1, 2015. Katie was born on January 7, 1951 in Muskogee, OK to Betty Katherine and Mack Aiken McGuire, Sr. In 1953, Katie and her family moved to Oklahoma City where she attended Kaiser Elementary with her brother. She graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1969 and later graduated from the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She then returned to Kaiser Elementary where she would finish out her career as a special education teacher. Katie loved to go country western dancing and it was there she met her husband, Dan. Katie and Dan were married in 1981 and became a mother to Dan's three daughters, Laurie, Jenny and Julie and in 1984 they had a daughter Haley. Katie loved to read and spend time with her dogs and during the summers she could always be found sunbathing. Katie was a devoted wife and loving mom and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Katie is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mack Aiken McGuire, Jr. She is survived by her husband; four daughters; grandchildren; Dalton and Cierra Eldredge, Kylie Davis and Delaney and Ethan Bobo; nephew and niece, Corbin McGuire and Kelly Fleming; Aunt Ann Williamson; many cousins; and her five beloved sisters in law. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00 pm at Buchanan Funeral Service. A mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo.
