Kent E. Slabotsky, Sr. January 27, 1925 - December 7, 2021

Kent Ellsworth Slabotsky, Sr., 96, passed from this life Dec. 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 27, 1925 to Inez Graham nee’ Sutton and Joseph Slabotsky in Kansas City, MO.

He graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1943. Shortly before graduation, Kent enlisted in the United States Maritime Service.  Basic training, Sheepshead Bay.  Transfer to USMSRTS, Huntington, L.I. NY for Basic Radio then transferred to Gallups Island Advanced Radio Platoon completing Radio Officer training Jan. 14, 1944. He wrote a memoir of his service in the Pacific called “Under the Southern Cross.” Ensign Slabotsky served until discharged Aug. 15, 1945, the “end of hostilities”.  
 
On returning home, he started his career in automotive repair with Greenlease Oldsmobile Dealer eventually becoming a factory representative for General Motors, Oldsmobile Division for a 35-year career ending as Zone Service Manager.  He had been based in Kansas City and Wichita Kansas, Dallas TX and Oklahoma City, OK.  In his retirement, in addition to taking care of Sylvia and Daniel, he hand-crafted model airplanes, mostly of the WWII era

In addition to his parents, Kent was preceded in death by infant granddaughter Andrea Douglas, brother Edwin Slabotsky and sister Mary Graham Slabotsky Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia H. Morales and his children from his first marriage, Rebecca (and Charlie) Forbes, Bryan Slabotsky (and his children Lindsey Pence and her three children, Allison and Ryan Reber and their two daughters, Tiffany and Eric Slabotsky and their three children and Kyle Slabotsky), Kendra Crabb (her daughter Erin with her husband and their three children),  Norma Manian (and husband Jeff, her children Natalie and Pablo Silva, Beth and Fernando Escudero and their two children and Katie McCune), Kent Slabotsky, Jr. (wife Stefanie and their son Kent Slabotsky, III),  Jay Slabotsky (and wife Charla and their two children). He is also survived by his children with Sylvia, Carin Schoppmeyer (and husband Martin) and Daniel Slabotsky (and wife Amanda).  
 
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Service from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services to celebrate Kent’s life will be held in the chapel of  Buchanan Funeral Service, Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021 at 2 p.m. 

His ashes will be inurned in Ft. Sill National Cemetery at a later date.
