Monica Louise Werner, age79 of OKC, formerly of Kansas City, MO, died April 19, 2010.
Monica was born November 26, 1930 in Benton Harbor, MI to Wayne Elmore and Ardis Mae (Krieger) Myers. In 1944, her family moved to Bridgeton, NJ where she attended high school and met her future husband, Albert Werner. Monica married Albert on April 28, 1951 and later that year graduated from Temple University School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She worked at numerous hospitals throughout her career and retired from St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO in 1992.
Monica enjoyed knitting, sewing, crafts and cake decorating. She was a Girl Scout leader. More than anything, Monica adored her family and friends. She was a loving wife and mother who brought extraordinary joy to her family. Monica will be missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for her kindness, sincerity and wit.
Monica is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert Werner; 2 daughters, Karen Harrison of OKC and Linda Werner of Preston, CT; a son-in-law, Donald Harrison of OKC; a grandson, Keith Harrison of San Antonio, TX; and a sister, Norma Lewis of Cincinnati, OH.
Celebrations of Monica's life will occur in Oklahoma City and in Kansas City. A memorial service will be held Saturday April 24, 2010 at 2pm, Zion Lutheran Church, 7701 Britton Rd, OKC. An open house will be held Wednesday April 28, 2010 from 4-8 pm, The Pavilion at Logan Woods, 14831 East 40 Highway Kansas City, MO 64136.
