On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Monty’s greatest desire to see his Lord and Savior face to face was granted at the age of 51.  Monty was a wonderful man of God.  He loved with great zeal and passion. He loved to talk to people and could find a new friend in almost any kind of situation.

Monty Lynn Wagner was born in Oklahoma City, OK on December 28, 1971, to Dennis and Rosie Wagner.  He grew up in Bethany where he was a Western Oaks Warrior and a Putnam City Patriot 1990 graduate.  Monty went to the University of Central Oklahoma for two years and then transferred to Southern Nazarene University where he graduated in December 1994 with a degree in Psychology.

Monty and Cara met while working at American Eagle in July 1990.  Cara tells everyone that she knew Monty was the one God had planned for her the instant she saw him and told her boss she had to hire him.  Monty and Cara were married on March 4, 1995.  They lived in Edmond for all except about nine months.  Monty and Cara were blessed with two wonderful boys, Drake and Brock.  Family was always the most important thing to Monty and Cara.  Most of the time if you saw one of them, you saw all of them and rarely did Monty and Cara go someplace without each other.

The love Monty and Cara had for each other had only grown deeper and deeper.  Monty loved doing things outside, taking long road trips, going to the lake, and riding See Doos and 4-wheelers.  He loved sharing with Drake and Brock how to ride and taking them to the places he had been.  Monty was very supportive and loved watching the boys play soccer, run track, and cross country.  Monty was a huge encourager.

Monty was known by all for his gift of praying with people.  His dream was for all people to come to the Lord and have the gift of eternity in heaven.  Forgiveness and hope were huge things Monty talked about.

Monty was a very successful salesman and could sell just about anyone anything.  He started young selling World’s Finest Chocolate and moved on to selling candy at school.  Throughout his sales career, he worked in various retail jobs before becoming an outside sales representative.  He was the top salesman for many years and then became an independent rep in 2011 with Cara joining him on the road from 2012-2017.  They were the top sales reps every year.  Many people would say they could never work together, but Monty and Cara made a great team and loved every minute.  Monty also loved cars and Jeeps and had well over 120 throughout his life.

Monty is survived by his wife of 28-1/2 years, Cara Ann, their sons Drake Lynn and Brock Collin; his Dad Dennis Wagner and wife Elynn; sister Lori Ford; sister-in-law Lisa Ludlam and husband Jeff; nieces and nephews Perry, Jacob, and Sierra Ford; Tony, Paige, and Jake Ludlam and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Monty is preceded in death by his Mom, Rose Marie Wagner; grandparents, Les and Iola Wagner, Naomi and Al Epperson, and Russ and Shirley Bellomy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Drake and Brock’s collegiate fund:  Venmo @carawagner1

    Jeep buyer says

Monty sold me a vehicle that the tire fell off three days after purchase because he didn’t know how to safely change tires. It was an accident that left me financially bankrupt, severely injured another person, and Monty blocked me on all accounts so that he could dodge responsibility.
