Preston G. “Pete” Wheeler, Jr. was born July 24, 1954, to Susanne Jeanette (Finders) and Preston G. Wheeler, Sr. in Dallas, Texas. He departed this world to be with his Heavenly Father on October 17, 2023. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma Pete worked as a Petroleum Land Manager for several major oil and gas companies before starting his own oil and gas exploration company, Quest Property, Inc. Pete married Lisa Hunsley Wheeler on May 31, 1986. This union was blessed with three children, Rebecca Elizabeth “Becky”, Preston Thomas “Petie” and Christopher Kirkpatrick “Kirk”. Pete was an avid outdoorsman who loved marine biology and scuba diving. He loved animals, especially his cats (some say more than most people). He and his family spent many years at their house on Lake Eufaula boating, fishing, duck hunting, and watching OU football. He enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball and was active in the Surrey Hills Sports Association. Pete was a history buff and an enthusiastic collector from science fiction to history. But his family was the focus and love of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David J. Fuller and Mark A. Fuller. He is survived by his wife Lisa, children Rebecca Brown and husband Stephen, Preston T. Wheeler and Christopher K. Wheeler and granddaughter Wheeler Grace Brown; Sisters Pamela Thompson and husband Terry, and Carie Lackey and husband Sheldon; sister and brother-in-law Stephannie and Vaughn Goerl and brother-in-law Mitchell Hunsley as well as host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 N. Council Rd. Oklahoma City, Ok 73132. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd. Oklahoma City, Ok 73118.
