Rollin Ashley September 7, 1929 - December 18, 2011

Rollin was born in Pleasanton, KS to Rollin B. and Lulu Irene. His parents were very proud of "Jr." all through their lives. Rollin graduated from Pleasanton High School. He met and married Gloria Sue Daves, together they had three daughters. Rollin started as a sheet metal worker at Helio Aircraft in Pittsburg, KS where he worked his way up from tooling for the B47 program to Quality Control Manager and Chief Inspector. In 1968 he started his career with the Federal Aviation Administration moving the family to OKC and Tulsa. After 21 years with the FAA Rollin retired and started out on his own as an Inspector. He enjoyed this time because the travels took him to different parts of the world. During all this time he was also serving in the National Guard Rollin retired from the guard after 30 years and achieving the rank of Lt. Col. During his service Rollin received the Meritorious Service Medal. When Rollin wasn't working you could find him outdoors. He enjoyed working in his garden, painting, hunting and especially goin' fishing. He loved to watch college football and would never miss an OU game. Rollin met his wife Barbara while dancing one night at So Fine. They were married in 1991 in Las Vegas. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his daughters Kathy and her husband Ray Boyd of Tulsa, Lee Ann and her husband Kim Moore of the The Woodlands, TX, and Jenny and her husband Jim Aitkenhead of Bailey, CO; 3 stepchildren, Denise, Bill and Jerry. Also, left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away Dec. 2011 but his wonderful personality had slowly faded away over the past few years. He endured this final trial like he lived his life, with amazing resilience and an independent spirit. A celebration of his life will be held at Buchanan Funeral Service December 27, 2011at 10 AM.
