Ronald Eugene Yoxsimer, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed from this life and on to his heavenly home on January 16, 2024. He was born May 20, 1932 to Les and Audrey (Day) Yoxsimer in Findlay, Ohio.He graduated from Findlay High School in 1950. He joined the United States Air Force and was assigned to the 6th Weather Squadron (Mobile), stationed at Tinker AFB. He participated in four nuclear test projects and was an eyewitness to the first hydrogen bomb test at the Pacific test site and the firing of the atomic cannon at the Nevada test site.
Shortly after arriving at Tinker he met Naomi Dean on a blind date. They married July 11, 1953 and raised five children together. After his military service Ron attended and graduated from OU with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was a Vice President at American Fidelity, retiring in 1995.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. His wife, Naomi preceded him in 1992. He married, Belva Dockum Neal in 1994 and they enjoyed almost thirty years of marriage. She preceded him in 2023. His son, Roger proceeded him in 2022.
Ron enjoyed sports, traveling, reading, serving within his church, and loved singing in the choir for many years. He always encouraged and loved his family and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 and Friday, January 19, 2024 at Buchanan Funeral Services, 8712 North Council Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3600 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112. Rev. Mark Muenchow will officiate. Interment will be at Red Star Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Greg Yoxsimer and his wife, Emily of Midland, Texas and Steve Yoxsimer of Charlotte, North Carolina; and two daughters, Cindy Hofacer, and Margo Maberry and her husband, David of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ron is also survived by twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren (with another on the way); and many friends and extended family.
