Theda Vern (Hail) Pennington was born May 8, 1937 in Johnsonville, Oklahoma to Shirley Thomas and Amanda Hail. Theda went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2021. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Schwenk; son Rich (Karen); son Thomas (Sherry); son Robert (Maria); and daughter Yolanda Lynch. Theda also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings and her husband of 61 years, James R. Pennington Sr.
Theda was a true woman of God whose compassionate, caring love for others was a true example of God’s love for all to follow. Born as a twin into a Pastor’s home, she learned to serve the Lord and her community. She is a graduate of Sharon Bible School, a pastor’s wife, pianist, Women’s Ministry President of the IPHC as well as serving on the national board. Her professional experience included working as an office manager at Nationwide Insurance, Southwestern Christian College and then she retired from Hughes Aircraft.
Theda will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity, her great fashion sense but mostly for her love of God and of sharing the gospel with everyone she met.
Our family would especially like to thank the doctors and nurses at Fresenius Kidney Care for their loving and professional treatment of mom/grandma during the final years of her life.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all have longed for his appearing. – 2 Timothy 4:7,8
