Viola Hamlin March 10, 1936 - December 31, 2011

HAMLIN,
Viola Cordelia, 75, of OKC, passed away December 31, 2011 after a courageous battle with COPD. She was born March 10, 1936 to Edgar J. and Evelyn L. (Newman) Hamlin in San Antonio, TX. Vi graduated from John Marshall High School in 1955 and soon went to work for Macklanburg-Duncan Co, retiring after 38 years in their employ (their first lady sales rep). In early years she loved playing tennis, softball, bowling, hunting and fishing and more recently watching the televised games. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, Beverly A. Manley and husband Gerald of OKC; nieces, Brenda Medcalf of OKC , & Patti Ann Brock (Kent) of Aurora, CO; nephew, Gerald Manley II (Andrea) of Wentzville, MO; grand-nephews, Austin Brock (Chrissy), Tyler Brock, & Kevin Manley; grand-nieces, Kaci Manley & Kati Brock, and her dearest friend, Opal Jaco of OKC. Vi was loved dearly by all who knew her and will be deeply missed and remembered always. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Erin Glasgow, the nurses and staff of Integris Baptist 601-ICU, as well as 9th floor for their care and kindness, and a special thank you to Integris Hospice staff, Monica, Betty, Kim, Virginia, Michelle, Karen, Ann, Starla and Donna. In lieu of flowers family request that donations be made to American Lung Assoc. 11212 N. May Ave. Ste. 405 OKC, OK 73120 or St. Jude's. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Jan. 5th from 5 – 8 PM with services to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM, Friday, Jan. 6th at Buchanan Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
