Gwendola Marie “Gwen” Knight was born April 26, 1921 in Hewins, KS. to Alva and Alma (Hollister) Howe. She was the oldest of 7 children. Gwen and Bill were married over 50 loving years and were completely devoted to one another. Gwen was a life-long member of the church of Christ, having been a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years both at the South Woodward Congregation and the Southwest Congregation. She was a cook for “Meals on Wheels” well into her 80s and taught many ladies in the church to crochet, knit, and quilt. She worked at the OCC Bookstore for 15 years. She was a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were young. Gwen modeled a positive attitude and Christian joy to all who knew her, always with a smile on her face. Well done, good and faithful servant. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill and her 6 siblings. She is survived by daughter, Beth and husband Lynn Brooks; daughter, Billie Lee; son, Steve Knight and wife Alana; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Alameda church of Christ with burial to follow at the IOOF Cemetery, Norman, OK. Viewing will be at the church beginning at 10AM up to service time.
