Jennie Filippo, age 91, passed away peacefully at St. Ann’s Nursing Home on Friday, August 12, 2022.
She was born on August 13, 1930, in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to Joseph and Josephine Gianfilipo. She was one of fourteen children whom she loved and adored.
Jennie enjoyed her work and made numerous friends as an elevator operator at the Liberty Bank Building in downtown Oklahoma City. She also volunteered for many years at St. Joseph Orphanage in Bethany, Oklahoma. Jennie found great joy in attending the annual reunions for the orphanage.
Jennie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She lived at Trinity Garden Apartments for over twenty years.
Jennie remained extremely close to her family and spoke often about them until the very end of her life. There was no greater OU Football fan on earth than Jennie Filippo. She attended many games around the country with various family members.Jennie made friends wherever she went, and she was always up for a game of Bingo. She often strolled around St. Anns Nursing Home enjoying conversations with all the employees. They became like her second family. The family would like to extend special thanks to St. Ann’s staff, Paula, Pat, all the nurses and Becky with Mercy Hospice.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her thirteen siblings. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Services will be in the chapel at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 N.W. Expressway, OKC on Friday August 26, 2022, at 10 a.m.
