Martha Hicks was born on June 14, 1935 to Charles L. Manning and Lou Anna Campbell in the small western Kentucky town of Mayfield in the family home. Her siblings were Winnie Lee Witherspoon, Lowell Manning, C.L. Manning, Jim Ed Manning, and Bill Manning, all deceased and Charline Manning Dandurant living in Dallas, Tx.
