M. T. “Kunjumon” Varughesekutty
M. T. “Kunjumon” Varughesekutty, 81, of Konni, Kerala, India, passed away peacefully
on April 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on August 24, 1942. M.T.
lived and grew up in Kerala, India before moving to the United States after marriage in
1976. Once migrating to the United States, he and his wife Aleyamma “Ammakutty”
raised their 2 children, Tobin and Elvin in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
M.T. professionally worked at ATT, which later became Lucent Technologies, as a
technician until his retirement in 2000. M.T. was a hardworking and dedicated
employee who worked tirelessly for his family and was treasured by friends alike.
M.T. was an easy-going and fun-loving person who adored his family. He was well
known for his sense of humor and was always expecting the best from his children
when it came to academics. He loved working in the garden and was very much an
outgoing person. He was always handy with repairs around the house and took care of
the majority of household items. He absolutely loved his grandchildren who loved
interacting with their beloved “Appachen/Appapa”. Throughout his life, he was active in
church for the Mar Thoma Church of Oklahoma and helped start the church here in
Oklahoma in the 1980s. He was also a part of organizations such as the Oklahoma
Malayalee Association serving as a committee member.
M.T. was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Aleyamma Varughese, sisters
Molly and Leelamma.
He is survived by his wife, Aleyamma; sons, Tobin and Elvin; daughter-in-law, Sheen;
Sonya, grandchildren, Mikayla, Ava, and Micah and sisters Lily and Kunjamma.
