Patricia Hanes September 27, 1930 - June 22, 2010

Patricia "Pat" Lou (Vaughn) Hanes passed away on June 22, 2010, at Clare Bridge Alzheimer and Dementia Care in Okla. City. She was 79. Patricia was born on July 27, 1930, in Seminole, Okla., to Forrest and Mary (Strader) Vaughn. She attended El Reno High School where she met her first husband, James C. Palmer, and had 2 daughters and 1 son. In 1967 she moved to Arlington, VA, where she was employed at the Defense Communications Agency. She later transferred to the U.S. Postal Service Headquarters where she met her second husband, Patrick Hanes. They were married in 1971. After a series of strokes Patricia returned to Okla. City in Sept. 2002. Patricia was blessed with so many talents. She was a talented watercolor artist and poet. She loved classical music, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her beauty, inside and out, will never be forgotten and no words can express how much she will be missed by family and friends. There will always be a void in the hearts of those she knew and loved. Patricia is survived by her 3 children, Vicki Lynn Palmer, Patricia Dianne Bullock and husband Jim, and James Townsend Palmer, Sr., all of Okla. City; 2 sisters, Shirley Howard of El Reno and Mary Sue Blalock of Eufaula; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; 4 nephews and so many family members and friends whose lives Patricia touched. The family would like to thank the staff of Clare Bridge Alzheimer and Dementia Care (Dorset Drive) and Full Life Hospice for the compassionate care the staff provided Patricia. Patricia will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel, Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Village Firefighters Local 3958, 2201 W. Britton Road, Okla. City, OK 73120
